About

Hello, my name is Bridget and as an ex-dancer I have been involved in movement most of my life!

I began Pilates as part of my training in the late 1980’s whilst studying for my Dance degree. Initially this was using the larger Pilates equipment (Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda chair) before taking mat Pilates classes. After having worked professionally in dance I can vouch for the benefits of Pilates in supporting the impact dance (and general day to day living) can place on the body.

Having taught dance for twenty-seven years in the community, for the local authority, art centres, dance agencies and in a sixth-form college, teaching Pilates was a natural progression. I adore the benefits Pilates can bring out in the body, as such I began teaching Pilates alongside of dance over twenty years ago before setting up Perfect Posture Pilates as a full-time business in July 2017. Seeing the joy Pilates brings out in my clients by alleviating back or joint pain, working as part of their program to improve a sport they have a passion for or just the first time you nail that move is the best feeling in the world!

As Joseph Pilates said “Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness.”

I love devising classes that flow where the exercises melt from one into another, this is due to my dance training and choreography. Group classes run in six-week blocks with the content changing every six weeks to keep you challenged and invigorated!

I am fully qualified in mat Pilates, Reformer, Cadillac, Chairs, Barrels, Barre, have a dance degree and a PGCE teaching qualification. I am a firm believer in continuous training so I’m regularly jumping on the train up and down to London to take part in workshops and teacher training courses to enable me to keep up to date on all things Pilates. This allows me to keep the sessions fresh and exciting for the gorgeous ladies and gents who come along to my classes. Even my holiday this year was a Pilates retreat for teachers in Spain!

A few quotes from Joseph Pilates:

In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference, in 20 you’ll see the difference, and in 30 you’ll have a new body

The Pilates Method teaches you to be in control of your body and not at its mercy.

Change happens through movement and movement heals.

Good posture can be successfully acquired only when the entire mechanism of the body is under perfect control.
