Our Pilates



We specialise in Contemporary Pilates, a low impact, low reps exercise system which conditions the body and mind. Still incorporating Joseph Pilates original repertoire of the 34 exercises we also add in exercises which have been modernised using today’s understanding of the mechanics of the moving body. These additional exercises all embrace Joseph Pilates philosophy of ‘Contrology’ (the name he gave to his exercise program and way of living) whilst enabling us to add variety, interest, rehabilitation, challenge and modification to enable YOU to work at your level. This enables you to achieve your goals in a safe supportive environment. Joseph Pilates was visionary and if he were alive today he would probably have further developed his program.


We operate two studios, studio one is for group and 1-1 mat Pilates classes using the small Pilates equipment. Studio two houses the larger Pilates equipment and is for 1-1 and small group classes.


STUDIO ONE

We take great delight in creating group classes with the needs of each class in mind. As part of this advice is given on ways to modify exercises to increase or decrease complexity enabling you to take your own body requirements into account. A wide range of small Pilates equipment is used in order to help support this philosophy. All equipment is provided and includes mats, rollers, a range of balls, bands, blocks, circles and Pilates Arcs.

STUDIO TWO

The second studio houses the larger Pilates studio equipment including Reformer, Cadillac, EXO chair, Avalon barrel, Ladder barrel and Pilates Arc. All classes in this studio are bespoke 1-1 and small group classes designed specifically to your needs and requests.
There are also opportunities to book this studio to run a program which I have written specifically for you. Please note you will need a minimum of four 1-1 sessions to learn your program in advance of booking the studio.
